He is a journalist and lawyer. He schooled at the then Imo State University (now Abia State University, Uturu) for Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Literature (1987); Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos for Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism; University of Lagos for Masters Degree in Literature; National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for his LLB Degree in Law.

He began journalism practice as a reporter in Thisweek Magazine in late 1988. During his over three decades working experience in some of the best known print media establishments in Nigeria and for international magazines, including Daily Times of Nigeria, Thisday Newspapers, Daily Independent, Post Express, Exportworld Magazine, Sports People, Daily Champion Newspapers, The Nation Newspapers, amongst others, Samuel Egburonu, simply known in the media industry as Sam Egburonu, held editorial positions like Reporter, Staff Writer, Correspondent, Features Editor, News Editor, Politics Editor, Bureau Chief, Editor and Member of Editorial Board. A Member of Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), he is the Founder and Publisher of NewsOrient Nigeria.

A Christian and teacher of God’s Word, Samuel Egburonu, a graduate of Redeemed Christian Bible College (2000), is the Presiding Pastor at Praise Family Fellowship.
